Your data, your call

Last updated: 2026-05-20

Under GDPR (and equivalent laws in many other countries), you have the right to access a copy of every piece of personal data we hold about you, and the right to have it deleted. We offer both to every user, regardless of where you’re located.

Export a copy of your data

A SkyLog export is a single machine-readable bundle containing every row we hold about you — across your account, profile, jump logs, gear, coaching/packing/rigging records, messages, notifications, calendar events, gear photos, jump-track GPS files, license/rating documents you’ve uploaded, and any other user-owned data.

How to request it today: email contact@skyloglive.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days (the GDPR default) with a download link for the bundle, valid for 7 days.

Self-serve download (available now if you’re signed in): the button below generates the bundle and downloads it to your device. The export covers your profile, jumps, gear, coaching/packing/rigging records, messages, notifications, calendar events, settings, license/rating verification status, and every other row we hold under your account. Storage blobs (jump-track GPS files, photos, license documents) are referenced by URL — not embedded — so the file stays small enough to inspect in any text editor.

Self-serve export

Delete your account & data

You can have your SkyLog account permanently deleted, along with every row we hold about you that isn’t legally required to retain (e.g. reserve packing records federation regulations require us to keep).

Self-serve deletion (available now if you’re signed in): the button below opens a confirmation dialog and, once you type DELETE to confirm, runs the full cascade in seconds. You’ll be signed out and redirected to the public site afterwards.

Or by email: write to contact@skyloglive.com from the address on your account. We confirm receipt, complete the deletion within 30 days, and email confirmation when it’s done. Once deleted, your data cannot be restored.

Heads-up on what gets deleted vs. anonymised vs. retained:

  • Deleted: profile, jumps + GPS tracks + media, gear / rigs / loadouts, emergency contacts, licenses + ratings + verification records, social profiles, accepted payment methods, registered devices, messages (sent and received), notifications, calendar events, settings, notification preferences, favourites, waiver signatures, your provider profiles (coach/packer/rigger) and everything hanging off them, your Firebase Auth account.
  • Anonymised, not deleted: rows that belong to other users but referenced you as the jumper — coaching logs where another coach taught you, packing logs where another packer worked on your gear, rigging logs where another rigger serviced your reserve, your appearance on other DZs’ SkyView manifests. We set your name to “Deleted user” so the other party’s own history stays coherent.
  • Hard-deleted from other users’ records too: JumpBuddy links naming you (the schema requires a non-null buddy), direct messages with another user, and any waiver signatures (we treat the signed contract as moot once the account is gone).
  • Retained where law requires: reserve packing records and similar federation-mandated entries may need to be retained for the period the relevant regulator requires — those are owned by the rigger, not you, so they survive your deletion.
  • Storage blobs: per-user uploaded files under standard prefixes (profile avatars, jump media, gear photos, documents, coaching media) are best-effort deleted from Firebase Storage. Jump-track GPS files at tracks/{jumpId}/… are orphaned (we never recorded the full blob list per user) and will be swept by a future Storage GC job.

Verifying your request

Before we export or delete anything, we verify the request is actually from you — typically by emailing the address on your account and asking you to confirm. This protects you from someone else impersonating you to either get a copy of or destroy your data.
